pyhctsa.operations.distribution.histogram_asymmetry(y, num_bins=10, do_simple=True)¶

Calculate measures of histogram asymmetry for a time series.

Computes various measures of asymmetry by analyzing the positive and negative values in the histogram distribution separately.

Parameters:¶

y : array-like¶

Input time series

num_bins : int, optional¶

Number of bins to use in histogram calculation. Default is 10.

do_simple : bool, optional¶

If True, uses linearly spaced bins; a series with no positive values or no negative values then raises a ValueError. If False, uses equal-width bins spanning the values on each side, with explicit edges (pyhctsa.robust.bf_hist_edges()). Default is True.

Returns:¶

Dictionary containing asymmetry measures (with do_simple=False, NaN modes for a side with no values).
